Meteor Booms Over US Northeast
A big meteor flew into Earth's air on Saturday. It was about three feet wide. The meteor made a loud boom. The boom shook buildings in the US Northeast. The American Meteor Society said it was a fireball. A fireball is a very bright meteor.
The event is called a bolide. A bolide is a meteor that explodes in the air. Weather tools saw a bright flash above east Massachusetts. But only NASA (the US space team) can confirm it. NASA wants to find pieces first.
Lunsford said most meteors burn up in the air. Any pieces fell into the Atlantic Ocean. People saw the fireball from Delaware to Montreal. Many people thought it was a factory explosion. They called the police and fire stations. Officials told them to stop calling.
