Zuckerberg said Meta is different from rival laboratories, which he believes build mainly for companies and governments. He also rejected the common fear that AI will destroy jobs, predicting instead that companies will become smaller but far more numerous.

Meta said it will start releasing open-source models again, beginning with Muse Glimmer, a model small enough to run on a laptop. An open version of Muse Spark 1.2 is promised within weeks. Zuckerberg also announced a $1 billion fund for communities that host Meta's data centres, where opposition to the environmental and economic effects of these sites has been growing. He pledged to hold down electricity prices, restore local water supplies and train workers. Meta expects to spend much of its $145 billion budget for 2026 on data centres.
