Study: More Children Hurt on E-Scooters
Doctors in England say e-scooter injuries are rising fast. Three children's hospitals treated 477 children in six years. In 2019, the hospitals saw only a few cases. In 2024, they saw 149. The children were twelve years old on average. Thirty-three of them needed an operation. Very few of them wore a helmet.
In Britain, you must be sixteen to rent an e-scooter. It is against the law to ride your own scooter on the road. But shops still sell these scooters. Some of them can go very fast.
A boy of fourteen died in Manchester in 2025. His friend was carrying him and did not stop at a red light. The government says it will make new rules. It may ask all riders to wear a helmet.
