Doctors at three children's hospitals in England have recorded a twenty-fold rise in e-scooter injuries among young riders, researchers reported. Between January 2019 and December 2024, 477 children arrived at trauma units in Liverpool, Sheffield and Manchester with injuries sustained on electric scooters. The annual count climbed from five cases in 2019, when only two of the hospitals had data, to 149 in 2024. The patients averaged twelve years of age, two-thirds were boys, and 95 percent had been driving rather than riding as passengers.
