AI Designs First Working Viruses to Kill Bacteria

Researchers at Stanford University in California have used AI (artificial intelligence) to design the first viruses that actually work. The team, led by Brian Hie, wrote complete genetic instructions for bacteriophages, viruses that attack only bacteria and cannot harm people. The AI produced thousands of possible designs, and the scientists built about 300 of them in the laboratory.
