Scientists in America used AI to make new viruses. AI means artificial intelligence. The new viruses only attack bacteria. We call them phages. They are safe for people. The AI made many designs. Scientists built about 300 of them. Only 16 of them worked.

The AI wrote the genetic code for these phages. The work happened in a safe laboratory.

Doctors already use phages to fight bad bacteria. This helps when medicine does not work. But some experts are worried. AI could make dangerous viruses one day. They want new rules for this work.
