His new contract lasts two years and is worth about $8 million. That is very little for a star player. He earned about $53 million last season. The move ends eight years with the Los Angeles Lakers.
James almost retired. He said he was sure he had played his last game. But he still loves the sport. He did not join Philadelphia for money or for his family.
