Djokovic Wins China Open, De Minaur Stops

Novak Djokovic won the China Open in Beijing this week. Alex de Minaur stopped in the final because his left thigh was hurt. The match ended at 7-6, 0-1. De Minaur shook hands after that one game. He said sorry to the fans. This is Djokovic's 102nd title, and his first in more than a year.

Both semi-finals ended early on Monday. Daniil Medvedev had to leave while Djokovic was ahead, BBC (a British news group) reported. The other semi-final also stopped when Hubert Hurkacz was injured. Djokovic had already beaten Alexander Zverev, the top seed. He has now won his last 34 matches at this event and has never lost in Beijing. Before this week, he had not played there for 11 years.

He has won at least one title in each of the last 21 years. Only Jimmy Connors and Roger Federer have more titles. One more title would be the same as Federer's. Djokovic said this cup means more than one event, especially in Beijing, where he has never lost. He cried after he lost early at the United States Open in a hard year for his health. He says he can still play at the top when he feels well. The win should also bring him back into the top 10.
