LeBron James Joins 76ers in Two-Year Deal

LeBron James, one of the most famous basketball players in the world, is joining the Philadelphia 76ers. The 41-year-old announced the move on 25 July 2026 on social media, calling it "my last decision". The contract runs for two years and is worth about $8 million. That is close to the lowest salary a long-serving player can receive, far less than the $53 million he earned last season.

James almost retired. He said he was sure he had played his last game. But he still loves the sport. He did not join Philadelphia for money or for his family. He joined because he wants to win the title again. Earlier, the team also brought in a strong player, Jaylen Brown. James's agent said that deal "changed everything".

Philadelphia has not won the title since 1983. Last season the team lost every game of its series against the New York Knicks. Now many people believe the 76ers can win. But one star, Joel Embiid, is often injured. If James wins in Philadelphia, he will be the first player to take the title with four different clubs.
