LeBron James Signs Two-Year Deal With Philadelphia 76ers

LeBron James, the 41-year-old all-time leading scorer in the NBA (the National Basketball Association), announced on 25 July 2026 that he will join the Philadelphia 76ers, ending eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers. In a statement posted on his own social media account, James described the move as "my last decision" and confirmed that it would begin his 24th professional season.

James almost retired. He said he was sure he had played his last game. But he still loves the sport. He did not join Philadelphia for money or for his family. He joined because he wants to win the title again. Earlier, the team also brought in a strong player, Jaylen Brown. James's agent said that deal "changed everything".

Philadelphia has not won the title since 1983. Last season the team lost every game of its series against the New York Knicks. Now many people believe the 76ers can win. But one star, Joel Embiid, is often injured. If James wins in Philadelphia, he will be the first player to take the title with four different clubs.
