Scientist Gets First Full Bionic Arm
Praveen Gowtham is a 43-year-old man from the Bronx. He lost part of his right arm as a baby. He had simple artificial arms for many years. Now he has a new 3D-printed bionic arm. He is the first person in the world to get this kind of arm.
A company in the UK (a country in Europe) made the arm. The arm fits his body. Small sensors read his muscle signals. They tell his fingers to move. He can also use special tools for each hobby.
The new arm is much lighter than his old arm. He can wear it most of the day. Before, he wore his old arm for only 30 minutes. Now he can lift boxes, open doors, and cook food at home. He says many people are getting used to wearing this kind of arm.
