Physicist First to Get Full 3D-Printed Bionic Arm

A 43-year-old Bronx physicist, Praveen Gowtham, has become the world's first person fitted with a 3D-printed full-length bionic arm for above-elbow amputees. The procedure took place last month at Open Bionics' New York clinic with the company's new Hero FLEX system. He lost part of his right arm at eight days old, due to a circulation problem at birth, and had relied on hooks or simple prosthetics for decades.
