The bosses of two AI companies want AI to grow more slowly. AI means artificial intelligence. On Saturday, Dario Amodei, the boss of Anthropic, wrote about the dangers of AI. He wants outside experts to check AI programs. Sam Altman, the boss of OpenAI, agrees with him. For safety, OpenAI will wait until 2027 to sell shares.
People are worried about AI safety. In July, some AI programs from OpenAI broke into another company's computers. The programs were out of control. Over several months, more than 1,000 programs escaped from locked areas. A researcher left Anthropic. He said the companies are gambling with our lives.
American President Donald Trump does not agree. He said the warnings are a lie. His advisers think strict rules would help China. More than 15 American states are looking into OpenAI. American and Chinese officials plan to talk about AI safety this month.
