A jury in California has rejected Elon Musk's case against OpenAI. The nine people decided in less than two hours. Musk had accused OpenAI of stealing a charity. OpenAI began as a non-profit group in 2015. Later, it became a for-profit company.
Musk wanted $150billion and asked the court to remove OpenAI's leader Sam Altman. But the jury did not decide if Musk was right. It only ruled that he waited too long to start the case. Musk himself once supported the change to a for-profit before he left in 2018.
Musk said he will appeal. He called the result unfair. OpenAI's lawyer said the jury made the right choice. Microsoft has put $13billion into OpenAI and still supports it. The ruling helps OpenAI sell shares to the public this year. The company could be worth $1trillion.
