Teams Save People From US Floods
Big floods hit the Four Corners area of the United States on Friday. Four states meet there: Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah. Rescue teams took people off the roofs of their homes. In New Mexico, teams used boats and helicopters all night. In the city of Farmington, about 600 families had to leave their homes.
The rain started on Wednesday. It came from an old storm over the Pacific Ocean. Some places got more rain than ever before. The ground was already wet after weeks of rain. So it could not hold more water. A scientist says warm ocean water helped cause the storms.
The leader of Colorado says there is an emergency in 11 areas. In Utah, water damaged more than 100 homes and vehicles. Police saved 30 people on Thursday. By Friday, leaders said no one died. But more storms are coming this weekend.
