Iran Deal Drops US Gas Below $4

On June 18, gasoline prices in the United States fell to $3.99 per gallon. This was the first time in almost three months that prices were below $4. The reason was a peace deal between President Trump and Iran. The deal reopened the Strait of Hormuz. A strait is a narrow area of water. About one-fifth of the world's oil moves through this place.

After the deal, eleven oil tankers left Iran. Together, they carried 20 million barrels of oil. This new supply made oil prices fall. China was also buying much less oil than before. This was about 40% less than in 2025. This helped lower prices too.

But the situation is not safe. Planned peace talks were suddenly cancelled. One expert predicted prices could fall below $3 per gallon by 2027.
