US average gasoline prices fell below $4 a gallon on June 18 for the first time in nearly three months, reaching $3.99 per gallon according to AAA (the American Automobile Association). The decline followed President Trump's signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Iran on Wednesday, which temporarily reopened the Strait of Hormuz — a strategic waterway through which approximately one-fifth of the world's oil supply normally passes.
