Researchers Find Delhi Ground at 64C
Delhi is very hot. The air temperature on Tuesday was 43.5C. But the ground was much hotter. Researchers from Greenpeace India used a special camera. It measured the heat of surfaces. The ground in the sun reached 64C.
The air and the ground are not the same. Roads and concrete take in a lot of heat. Then they send the heat back out. This makes people feel hotter. In one place, the ground was 61C in the sun. Under a tree, it was only 39.8C.
This heat is dangerous. The normal body temperature is 37C. Above 40C, the body can not work well. A doctor told people to drink water and stay inside. But poor people can not stop work. Street sellers must work in the heat.
