Delhi's Surfaces Reach 64C, Far Above Air Temperature

Delhi has suffered a severe heatwave for several weeks, with daytime temperatures often climbing above 40C. On Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded an official high of 43.5C. However, that air temperature did not tell the whole story. Researchers from the environmental group Greenpeace India travelled through the city with a thermal camera and measured surface temperatures as high as 64C in sunny, exposed places.
