On Thursday, Zelenskyy wrote an open letter to Putin. This was his first letter to Putin since the war started in 2022. He asked Putin to meet and talk. He said the meeting could happen in a country like Switzerland or Turkey. He also offered to stop fighting during talks.
Right now, Ukraine is in a strong position to ask. Its drones have hit Russian targets, including an oil terminal. Russia's government has less money for the war. Britain, France, and Germany are also planning to talk to Russia.
US President Trump said the meeting would be great. He said both sides must give in. Putin said he is willing to agree. But Putin again said Zelenskyy can't legally sign a deal. The US Congress voted to give Ukraine more than one billion dollars.
