On Monday, the EPA (the US environment office) ended most pollution limits for power plants. These plants burn coal and gas to make electricity. The limits started in 2024 under President Joe Biden. They told the plants to cut their pollution from the 2030s.
EPA head Lee Zeldin says the old rules went too far. He says the change will save companies $310billion. Government leaders say coal and gas give the country electricity all the time. But power plants make about a quarter of the country's climate pollution.
Many people are worried about the change. One study says the rules could stop about 30,000 deaths every year. Without them, the air will be dirtier. The planet will also get warmer. Some groups want to fight the decision in court.
