The United States lost 23,000 jobs in July. Experts are surprised. They thought the country would add jobs. May and June were also worse than first reported. Many people also stopped looking for work.
Shops, schools, hotels and restaurants lost jobs. Building companies added jobs. Hospitals added jobs too. But the country lost more jobs than it added.
Prices are still going up. But fewer people have work. The American central bank must decide what to do. It may not make money more expensive. Pay is rising slowly. Many workers feel worried.
