Typhoon Dolphin Hits China, Million Leave
Typhoon Dolphin hit the east coast of China on Sunday evening. Its winds were about 150 kilometres per hour. It came to land twice in a few hours. The BBC (a British news company) said more than one million people left home. Many left before the storm arrived.
Dolphin was a very big storm and it lived a long time. It travelled about 6,000 kilometres over the sea before it reached land. It lived much longer than a normal typhoon.
Because of the storm, airports in Shanghai cancelled about 60 percent of Sunday's flights. The city of Wenzhou opened more than 1,000 shelters for people who left home. More heavy rain will fall until Wednesday, so the danger is not over.
