Thirteen people died in a plane crash in Peru on Saturday. The small plane took tourists to see the Nazca Lines from the air. The Nazca Lines are very old pictures in the desert. The plane crashed a few minutes after it left the airport. Seven Italians, two Germans, two Spaniards and two pilots died.
People made the Nazca Lines a very long time ago. The pictures show a bird, a monkey and a whale. You can only see them well from a plane. Many companies sell short flights over the area. Other planes have crashed here before, in 2008, 2010 and 2022.
Police do not know why the plane crashed. Peru has started an investigation. The president said the small airport may close for a short time. The airline said it will look at its flights again.
