Sony says most players now like digital games more than discs. In 2025, about 80% of its game sales were digital. In 2013, the number was only 13%. Sony made a disc-free PlayStation 5 in 2020. Many people think the next PlayStation will have no disc.
But many people are not happy. One writer says the change hurts poorer players. They often share or borrow games to save money. Shops and collectors worry about used games. People also ask if they really own a digital game. Sony has not said if players can move their games.
