Bombs Hurt 18 on Macron's Visit
Two bombs exploded in Damascus on Tuesday. Damascus is the capital of Syria. The bombs went off near a hotel. French President Macron was staying there. He was in Syria for an important visit. At least 18 people were hurt. Four of them were police officers. Macron was not in the hotel. He was safe.
Macron is a big Western leader. He is the first to visit Syria in a long time. The old leader, Assad, lost power in late 2024. Macron met the new leader, Ahmed al-Sharaa. France wants to help Syria. But Syria is still not safe. Days before, another bomb killed at least nine people.
Macron did not stop his visit. The two countries want to be friends again. They agreed to send ambassadors. Macron's team also signed many business deals. Most people in Syria are very poor. The deals bring a little hope.
