A British couple had a scary trip on Tuesday. A Russian warship fired warning shots near their small boat. The couple are both about seventy years old. They were sailing from England to France. They saw a big Russian ship near the Isle of Wight. Then the couple heard several shots. Mrs Kelvey got down low. Her husband turned the boat away fast.
The two sides tell different stories. The couple say they did nothing wrong. They were using their sails, not the engine. But Russia says the boat used its engine. Russia says the boat moved at the warship. So the crew fired near the boat.
The story became big news in Britain. The couple stayed very calm. A British navy ship checked on them. Then they sailed on to France. We don't want world war three, Mrs Kelvey said. The British leader called Russia's action reckless.
