King Charles Dances, Tries Rum in Caribbean
King Charles III is on a tour of the Caribbean. In the Bahamas, he danced at a Junkanoo parade, a colourful street party. At a boxing club, he laughed at a T-shirt that showed him with big muscles and a crown. Then he flew to Guyana. At a party hosted by President Irfaan Ali, the King was given a bottle of rum made just for him. He took a sip, said it was "very good" and joked that someone else would have to finish it.
The visit celebrates 60 years of friendship between the United Kingdom (UK) and Guyana. Guyana's economy is growing faster than any other country's because oil was found there in 2015. Most of the country is covered by rainforest, a thick, wet forest, and the King has worked to protect it. But there is some tension. Leaders in the region want Britain to pay compensation, or money to make up for harm, for its part in the slave trade. President Ali is one of them, but he does not plan to discuss it in public on this visit.
Music is also part of the trip. Musicians from Scotland played with local drummers at the party. After Guyana, the King will go to Antigua and Barbuda. There, he will open a big meeting of Commonwealth leaders.
