Peru Finds 3,000 Spiders in Socks
Workers at an airport in Peru found more than 3,000 big spiders. The spiders were in three bags. They were hidden in small boxes inside socks. Three travellers wanted to take them to Germany.
Two news reports tell different stories. One says workers saw something moving in the bags. The other says someone sent a secret message about the plan. Some of the spiders are protected by law. In Europe, one spider can sell for about €500. So all the spiders could sell for about €1.5 million.
The police stopped the three travellers. They may go to prison for some years. The spiders look scary, but they are not dangerous to people. A bite hurts about as much as a bee. Taking wild animals like this is a big problem around the world.
