Welsh Actor Wins Two Emmy Awards
Matthew Rhys is an actor from Wales. He is 51 years old. On Monday night, he won two Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. He is the first actor to win two big acting prizes in one night. He won for two different television shows. He thanked the people of Wales in the Welsh language.
The Emmy Awards are some of the biggest television prizes in the United States. People first gave them in 1949. The prize is a statue of a woman with wings. Other actors tried for two prizes before. But nobody won both.
Rhys said he was happy for his small country. His old music teacher remembers him at school in Cardiff. In 1993, the school made a show for him. He looked like the singer Elvis Presley.
