Italian Divers Die in Maldives Cave
On Wednesday, divers brought the last two bodies out of a cave in the Maldives. Four Italian divers died in the cave. The cave is in Vaavu Atoll. People call it 'shark cave.' It is about 60 metres deep. This is too deep for normal diving. A fifth Italian had died near the cave door last week.
Four of the divers worked at a university in Italy. But the university did not know about the dive. It was a private trip. The weather was bad that day. Inside the cave, the water was dark and moved fast.
Divers from Europe helped find the bodies. They used special machines to breathe underwater for a long time. Before this, a Maldives soldier died trying to help. The bodies will go back to Italy. The country is asking if the dive was safe.
