Final Italian Bodies Recovered from Maldives 'Shark Cave'

On Wednesday, Finnish specialist divers recovered the final two bodies of four Italians who died deep inside an underwater cave in the Maldives, completing a complex recovery operation. The cave, located in Vaavu Atoll and known locally as 'shark cave,' lies at a depth of around 60 metres (200 feet) — twice the legal limit for recreational diving in the country. The victims, named as Giorgia Sommacal, her mother Monica Montefalcone, Muriel Oddenino, and Federico Gualtieri, were found clustered together in the cave's innermost chamber.
