The European Union (EU) has fined Google about 1 billion dollars. The EU said Google broke its rules about fair business. Google put its own services first in search results. It also stopped app makers from showing users cheaper deals.
This is not the first fine for Google. The EU wants to control big technology companies. An EU leader said the fine helps normal people. She said the best product should win, not the biggest company. Last year, the EU also fined Apple and Meta.
Google is not happy about the fine. A Google leader said the fine is unfair. Google may ask a court to change it. The fine came just before some US taxes were due to end. But the EU said the two things are not linked.
