Ear Acupuncture Shows No Edge Over Placebo

Researchers in Brazil have presented findings suggesting that stimulating the outer ear may ease migraine pain, though no technique proved best. Led by physical therapist Fernanda Bella at the University of Southern Santa Catarina, the study recruited 68 women with chronic migraine. Half received auriculotherapy, a form of acupuncture targeting points on the outer ear, while the rest received a different form of ear stimulation as a placebo. Both groups were treated weekly for eight weeks.
