UAE Quits Big Oil Group
OPEC is a group of countries that sell oil. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is leaving OPEC. The UAE has been in the group for almost 60 years. It will leave on 1 May 2026. The UAE says it wants more freedom to sell its oil.
The UAE has been unhappy in OPEC. OPEC told the UAE to sell less oil than it could make. The UAE wanted to sell more. Saudi Arabia leads the group. The two countries often did not agree.
Now the UAE will sell more oil. This may make oil prices change. Saudi Arabia might lower its prices to fight back. President Donald Trump said the news was good. Oil is already very expensive. Drivers may soon pay more for fuel.
