Scientists Warn About Rainier Volcano
Mount Rainier is a big mountain in the US. Scientists say it is the most dangerous volcano. The danger is mud and rock that moves very fast. It can travel 100 miles in one hour.
Rainier has 25 big ice fields. Heavy rain or warm weather can melt the ice. This makes a huge wave of mud. It can hit three towns in 30 minutes. About 60,000 people live there.
In 1985, a mud wave in Colombia killed 23,000 people. To stay safe, students do drills. They learn to run uphill on foot. That is the best way to escape.
