Some children in Britain have a serious health problem from a drug. The drug is called ketamine. Some of the children are only 13 years old. The drug hurts their bladder. The bladder is the part of the body that holds urine. A hospital in Liverpool has a special clinic for these children. It is the first clinic like this in Britain.
Doctors studied the first 60 patients at the clinic. Their average age was 14. About two out of three were girls. Ketamine is very cheap, so young people can buy it. The number of young patients grew fast in 2025.
The children need the toilet very often, and it hurts a lot. Some see blood in their urine. The damage can be very bad. Some children may need a big operation. Stopping the drug can help. Doctors say people can stop this problem.
