Harry Kane Sets Fastest 100 Bundesliga Goals Record

The record Kane broke had stood for 49 years. Dieter Muller of Cologne reached 100 Bundesliga goals in 1977, but needed 129 matches to do so, fully 31 more than Kane. Bayern's own legend Gerd Muller is the next fastest, at 136 games, ahead of Lothar Emmerich on 140 and Uwe Seeler on 157. Kane has been relentless since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023, in a transfer the Daily Mail valued at 100 million pounds, scoring 152 goals in 154 appearances across all competitions, including 61 in 51 games last season. In the Bundesliga itself he has more goals than games, 101 from 98. The same newspaper calculated that he finds the net every 78.5 minutes in the Bundesliga, a sharper rate than either Erling Haaland or Robert Lewandowski.

"I'm very proud to have now scored 100 and 101 Bundesliga goals. I haven't been around that long. I've loved every second of it," Kane told Sky Germany, thanking his teammates and coaching staff. The 33-year-old is now regarded as a leading contender for the Ballon d'Or, to be announced in London on 26 October. His contract expires at the end of the season, though he has said he is in no rush to leave Germany and that talks are ongoing. A return to England would let him chase Alan Shearer's Premier League record of 260 goals, a mark he currently trails on 213. Kane joins the national squad next week for England's first international break since the World Cup.
