Glacier Collapse Triggers Deadly Nepal-Tibet Flash Flood

A catastrophic flash flood swept down the Nepal-Tibet border on Wednesday, killing at least 356 people and leaving nearly 1,400 missing, most of them tourists and pilgrims. Nepali police said 353 bodies had been recovered by Thursday afternoon, while Chinese state media reported three deaths on the Tibetan side and more than 550 people missing there. The torrent tore through valleys in Nepal's Rasuwa district, flattening entire villages, overturning trucks and sweeping away houses, roads and hydroelectric plants.
