Money Cuts May Close Jodrell Bank Telescope

Jodrell Bank Observatory in England is facing closure. The site has run Britain's biggest radio telescope for almost 70 years. Its main funder, UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), said on Monday that it will stop funding e-Merlin, the radio astronomy network run from the site, when the current deal ends in March 2028. The BBC says that if no new backer is found, all research at the site will stop on 1 April 2028.
