Bulgaria Wins 70th Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna

The contest unfolded under a third consecutive year of political tension over Israel's inclusion, with five longtime participants — Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland, Iceland and Slovenia — boycotting in protest at the country's military conduct in Gaza. Hundreds marched near the arena before the final holding placards reading "Block Eurovision," and pro-Palestinian groups staged a parallel outdoor concert in Vienna titled "No stage for genocide." Below the headline acts, the United Kingdom suffered another humiliation: synth-pop entrant Look Mum No Computer, the stage name of musician Sam Bartle, finished last with his bilingual novelty song "Eins, Zwei, Drei," the British act's third bottom-place finish since 2020. Looking ahead, Eurovision is preparing to expand its global footprint with a spinoff Eurovision Song Contest Asia, set to debut in Bangkok this November, even as the European original navigates its political fault lines.
