Two young boys led the Manchester United team onto the field on Sunday. They were the mascots. Mascots walk out with the players. Their father was a police officer called Matthew Blades. He died on 22 August in a car crash near Middlesbrough. Another police officer died too. Five young people in the other car also died.
Blades loved Manchester United. He often went to watch the team play. The club wrote about him in the paper for the game. It said he was a good father and a good officer. His wife watched the game too.
People in other towns remembered the two officers. Before another game, the crowd clapped for one minute. Photos of the two men were on a big screen. The club said Blades will always be their hero.
