Scientists have found a new kind of wild cat in Bolivia. It is the first new cat species in over 100 years. The cat lives in forests in the mountains. It is smaller than a pet cat. It has light brown fur with spots.
A local person found the cat and took it home. They thought it was a pet kitten. But it did not act like a house cat. Later, it went to an animal home. A scientist there saw that it looked different. Her team studied the cat's DNA. DNA is the code inside living things. They learned it is a new species.
Scientists know little about this cat. Only one living cat is known for sure. He is ten, and his name is Tigrino. Scientists think others live in the forest. But people are cutting down the forests, so the cat may be in danger.
