Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) won the Champions League again on Saturday. They beat Arsenal on penalties at a stadium in Budapest. Kai Havertz scored first for Arsenal in the sixth minute. Later, Ousmane Dembélé scored from the penalty spot for PSG. The score was 1-1 after extra time. The match was decided on penalties. Arsenal's Eberechi Eze shot wide. Then Brazilian defender Gabriel Magalhães kicked the final penalty over the crossbar. PSG won the title.
This loss ended Arsenal's chance to win two trophies this year— the Premier League and the Champions League. Only Manchester United and Manchester City have done this recently. It was Arsenal's first Champions League final since 2006. They played defensively. Manager Mikel Arteta said his team would win. But Arsenal only had one shot on target. They had the ball about 25% of the time.
After the game, Gabriel cried with his head in his hands. PSG captain Marquinhos, also a Brazil teammate, comforted him. Arsenal player Declan Rice said it happens, it's football and it's cruel. Rival players from Chelsea, Tottenham, and Manchester City star Erling Haaland mocked Arsenal online. Arsenal will still hold a Premier League title parade in London on Sunday. But they will have only one trophy, not two. PSG are now Europe's top club.
