Officials Find Lost Floating Island

Officials in Canada have found a floating island again. It first appeared on a big lake in British Columbia. People in boats filmed it, and the video spread fast online. A satellite photo on 21 July showed the island was real. But it was gone by 5 August.

The island covers about one hectare. A power company called BC Hydro looks after the lake. It thinks old wood collected near the shore for many years. Plants and trees then grew on the wood. This summer all the wood broke away and floated free.

The lake is very full after heavy snow and rain. BC Hydro is watching the lake. It says the island moved about 30 kilometres to the shore. Officials tell people not to walk on it. The island is not solid and could break apart.
