Melting Glacier Reveals Climbers Missing Since 1992

A hiker crossing the Trift Glacier in southern Switzerland found two bodies lying on the ice on 26 July. On Wednesday, police in the canton of Wallis said that a comparison of DNA profiles had identified the men as two mountaineers who disappeared in the Weissmies region in 1992. Both were Belgian, aged 39 and 41 at the time, and their bodies had stayed in the ice for 34 years.
