Conor McGregor will fight again. The Irish star will face Max Holloway from Hawaii at UFC 329 (Ultimate Fighting Championship) in Las Vegas on 11 July. McGregor has not fought for nearly five years. He broke his leg in his last fight in July 2021. A planned return in 2024 was cancelled after he broke a toe in training.
McGregor, 37, was once the biggest star in MMA (mixed martial arts) . In 2016, he became the first UFC fighter to hold two titles at the same time. A 2017 boxing match with Floyd Mayweather earned him a huge amount of money. But he has won only one of his four MMA fights since 2016. He also has had personal problems. In October 2025, he was banned for 18 months for missing drug tests. In 2024, an Irish court ordered him to pay £206,000 in a rape case.
This fight is a rematch— McGregor beat Holloway in 2013. But Holloway, 34, has been a top fighter for many years. McGregor has not beaten a top fighter in 10 years. He has about $200million, so he does not need the money. The real question is whether he can still fight at the top level after so much time away.
