Antonelli, 19, Becomes Youngest Winner of Chaotic Monaco Grand Prix

Antonelli's victory was his fifth consecutive win, extending a remarkable run that has placed the 19-year-old 66 points clear in the championship after only six rounds. The Italian's task was eased early on when Red Bull's Max Verstappen, who had started second, suffered an engine failure within yards of the lights going out. From there, Antonelli was rarely troubled, pulling clear by five seconds within ten laps and managing brake temperatures before resuming his pace. The race descended into chaos when Charles Leclerc, racing in front of his home crowd, crashed at Rascasse, prompting a red flag as inspectors examined the damaged track surface. Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff described Antonelli's qualifying lap as "unbelievable" and acknowledged the contrast between his rookie star and beleaguered teammate George Russell.

Five drivers were penalised for speeding in the pit lane: Hamilton, Russell, Pierre Gasly, Oscar Piastri and Franco Colapinto. This was an unusually high number that the FIA (motorsport's world governing body) had warned teams about beforehand. Gasly, who crossed the line believing he had secured third, was demoted to seventh after two five-second penalties and described the decision as deeply unjust; his Alpine team has requested a formal review. Russell, who looked set for a podium, slipped to 13th after Mercedes failed to apply his pit-lane penalty correctly, triggering an automatic drive-through. Hamilton, now second in the championship, insisted his first Ferrari victory is approaching: "I have no doubt that at some stage we will get that win." The series moves next to the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix.
