Antonelli, 19, Wins Chaotic Monaco Grand Prix

The win was Antonelli's fifth in a row, extending a remarkable run that has placed the teenager 66 points clear in the championship after only six rounds. His task became easier early on when Red Bull's Max Verstappen, who started second, suffered an engine failure just yards after the start. Antonelli quickly pulled five seconds clear within ten laps. The race fell into chaos when Charles Leclerc, racing in front of his home crowd, crashed at Rascasse, triggering a red flag while inspectors examined the damaged track. Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff called Antonelli's qualifying lap "unbelievable".

Five drivers were punished for speeding in the pit lane: Hamilton, George Russell, Pierre Gasly, Oscar Piastri and Franco Colapinto. The FIA (Formula One's governing body) had warned teams about this beforehand. Gasly, who crossed the line believing he had finished third, was demoted to seventh after two penalties and called the decision deeply unfair; his Alpine team has requested a review. Russell, set for a podium, slipped to 13th after a mistake with his penalty. Hamilton, now second in the championship, said his first Ferrari victory will come soon. The series now moves to Barcelona.
