Amazon is now America's biggest company. It made more money than Walmart in 2025. Amazon earned about $716.9billion. Walmart earned $713.2billion. This ends Walmart's 13 years at the top. The list is called the Fortune 500. UnitedHealth Group came third.
Amazon and Walmart are very different. Amazon sells online. Walmart has big stores in many U.S. towns. Amazon's sales grew 12% last year. Walmart's sales grew only 5%. Amazon runs Amazon Web Services (AWS) . AWS lets other firms use Amazon's computers. AWS made $129billion in 2025.
Amazon's boss Andy Jassy will spend $200billion in 2026. The money will go to new technology. Jassy also cut 30,000 jobs. Walmart's new boss is John Furner. Walmart will not be first again soon. But Walmart's share price went up 167% in five years.
